The fitness staff at the YMCA is caring, competent and experienced. They are here to serve you and they will guide and support you through our wide range of health and wellness programs so you can find the workout regimen that fits your lifestyle.

When you begin your fitness journey at the YMCA, you'll see that support doesn't end with our staff; you'll meet other supportive people who will become part of your work-out support team and turn in to lifelong friends. At the YMCA, we're not a just a gym, we're a community.

The YMCA offers unlimited access to hundreds of group fitness classes as a membership benefit. Whether it's yoga, aerobics, cycling, Zumba or something in-between, there's sure to be a class worth incorporating into your wellness routine! 

Massage Therapy:

Self-care is one of the most important aspects of wellness. The Pine Street YMCA is now offering FREE massages to all members with a minimum $10 tip. Please sign up at the member service desk one day in advance and shower off before a massage. Massages will be offered in 30 minute intervals throughout the week. Our licensed massage therapist is Michelle Mabry. Michelle is certified in massage techniques including Deep Tissue, Pregnancy, Swedish, Hot Stone, Sports, and Clinical Range-of-Motion.
Times available: MWF - 9am-4pm TTH 1pm-6:30pm

Class Offerings:

We offer dozens of classes offered each week at the Middle Tyger and Pine Street YMCA branches. We offer the following group fitness classes on a regular basis. Check your center's group fitness calendar for additional offerings and class availability.

Step:

Step to the beat with this mixed-impact class where the choreography is as fun as it is easy to learn.

Cardio Kick:

Put your best foot forward with a mixture of kick and punch combinations peppered with jump ropes, drill and abs work.

Indoor Cycling:

Put a new spin on your cardio workout by enjoying a heart-pumping simulated ride sure to challenge both beginners and avid cyclists.

Yoga:

Practice basic yoga postures and relaxation techniques while improving your flexibility balance and strength.

Pilates & PiYo

A mat-based class designed to stretch and strengthen your core muscles while incorporating breath-work.

Zumba:

Come see why this high-intensity Latin-based cardio dance class is all the rage.

Body Sculpt:

A class designed to increase strength and definition in your muscles.

Line Dance:

A fun dance-based cardio workout that involves the Electric Slide, the Wobble, and everything in between! High and low impact versions are both offered as well as country and non-country, songs so there is something for everyone!

SilverSneakers:

This class for active older adults is designed to enhance their daily life by increasing muscular strength and overall range of motion. Hand-held weights, elastic tubing with handles and a ball are used for resistance training.

Personal Training:

Are you ready to take your fitness to the next level? At the YMCA, our certified personal trainers are here to do just that! Whether your goal is to lose a few pounds or to train for a marathon, our trainers will design a one-on-one workout program just for you. Offered at both Pine Street and Middle Tyger YMCA locations.
