Group Exercise

Group exercise can be described as exercise performed by a group of individuals and led by an instructor. A variety of group exercise formats exist, including (but not limited to) step, kickboxing, indoor cycling, bootcamp, core strength, TRX, Pilates, Yoga, Zumba, and interval training.


Group exercise classes offer a wide variety of benefits that you might not receive if you work out on your own. Exercise in a group format will expose you to a fun, social environment, a safe and effective workout, consistency in your exercise routine, instructors and members to keep you accountable, and a workout that doesn't require you to have exercise knowledge or experience. A variety of class formats, music, and instructional styles at the YMCA OF GREATER SPARTANBURG will keep you motivated and working hard for the entire class.


Group exercise offers a workout for all levels, ranging from beginner to advanced. Each exercise can be modified to make it easier or more difficult. You can expect camaraderie with the instructor and other members upon entering a group exercise class. All you need to do is show up with a positive attitude, participate, and most importantly, have fun.
