New Impact Program

New Impact: A new approach to treatment for overweight and obese children and their families.

The New Impact program is a treatment program for overweight or obese children ages 6-21 and their families. Thanks to support from Women Giving for Spartanhurg and a partnership between GHS ChildrenÂ’s Hospital and the YMCA OF GREATER SPARTANBURG, the eight week program provides a multidisciplinary approach to managing weight and addressing related medical, social, and emotional issues; cooking and nutritional classes; support groups; fitness classes at the Y, and family activities. On-going support is available. 


Children ages 6-21 whose body mass index (BMI) is in the 85th percentile or higher.


New Impact I-Fit fitness classes are offered M & W from 5:15 - 6:15pm. Contact Brian Helsel at 864-585-0306 or email for more info.


New Impact I-Fit classes are offered Tuesdays from 5:45 - 6:30pm for ages 8 & up..  Kid Zumba classes are offered Wednesdays at 4:30pm for ages 4 & up.  Kindergym classes are offered on  Fridays for ages 1-4.  Contact Sherry Johnson at 864-433-9623 for more Info.
