Middle Tyger YMCA Ranks Well at YMCA National Swimming Championships
SPARTANBURG, April 14, 2012 - The Middle Tyger YMCA was well represented at the YMCA National Swimming Championships held in Greensboro, NC April 2-5, 2012. Middle Tyger Y had 44 swimmers, the largest squad of qualified athletes in the history of the meet. The Girls won the National Title with 605 points, the Men finished 7th with 279 points, and the Team finished 2nd in the combined category with 884 points.
The Middle Tyger Y Girls won the 200 Free Relay, 400 Free Relay and 200 Medley Relay, and finished 2nd in the 400 Medley Relay and 800 Free Relay. Middle Tyger Y Boys finished 8th in the 400 Free Relay and 6th in the 200 Free Relay.
Individually Middle Tyger Y had several Top 10 Finishers:
Robert Borowicz: 9th 100 Backstroke; 8th 50 Free
Kendall Crawford: 5th 100 Backstroke; 8th 200IM; 9th 200 Backstroke
Danielle Galyer: 10th 100 Backstroke, 4th 200 Backstroke
Annie Gillig: 2nd 400IM; 6th 200 Backstroke
Kyle Kemp: 10th 1000 Free
Katrina Konopka: 1st 50 Free; 6th 100 Fly; 8th 200 Free; 2nd 100 Free
Haley Lips: 3rd 500 Free; 3rd 200 Free; 3rd 400IM; 8th 200 Fly
Justin Mehl: 6th 500 Free; 7th 200 Free; 6th 200 Fly
Brad Oberg: 9th 200 Fly
Lauryl Williams: 10th 100 Breaststroke
Alex Wood: 7th 50 Free; 6th 100 Free
