Social Responsibility

While our programs and facilities are always based on the unique needs and interests of our communities, every Y has one thing in common: our people. The volunteers, staff, members and donors of the Y are all united by a deep commitment to strengthening our communities.

At the YMCA, no one is ever turned away due to the inability to pay.  
We believe in helping ALL people improve their quality of life.  Our annual Partners with Youth Campaign  allows us to assist YMCA members and program participants with financial assistance toward memberships and program services during times when unforeseen circumstances make it difficult to afford our services.

Last year, the YMCA of Greater Spartanburg provided approximately $683,906 dollars in scholarships, free programming and services for the community. We were able to engage 1857 volunteers that gave us 22,779 hours of community service. Our annual campaign reached new heights with 760 pledges, which helped make the lives of other families stronger through Partners with Youth. The dollars pledged to the campaign make an immediate and life-altering impact on those who benefit through summer camps, youth sports, quality childcare, learning to swim, or even the chance to take control of their health.
