Middle Tyger Family YMCA Bench Press Competition

1-Rep Max Contest & Endurance Contest

Saturday, October 8th

8:15am-9:15am(Weigh-In)/9:30am(Meeting)/10am(Competition)

 

Competition for Women and Men ages 13 to adult. To be fair, formula used is weight lifted divided by body weight in each age and gender division for 1-Rep Max contest & gender and weight class for Endurance contest.

 

Prizes:

Trophy awarded to 1st Place winners in Women’s and Men’s Age Divisions and Overall Strongest Lifter. Award Certificate and Gift awarded to every participant.

 

Entry Fee for 1-Rep Max & Endurance Contest:

Early Registration by September 30th –

  • Member: $25/contest or $40 for both
  • Non-Member: $35/contest or $60 for both

Late Registration on or after October 1st –

  • Member: $30/contest or $45 for both
  • Non-Member: $45/contest or $65 for both

Males:

  • Teen(13-16)
  • Young Men’s(17-24)
  • Men’s(25-40)
  • Mature Men’s(41-54)
  • Masters Men’s(55&Up)

Females:

  • Teen(13-16)
  • Young Women’s(17-24)
  • Women’s(25-40)
  • Mature Women’s(41-54)
  • Masters Women’s(55&Up)

Three (3) Rounds; Round System-lightest to heaviest weight in all three (3) attempts; Only one (1) attempt per round

2. Endurance Contest-

Males:

  • 135lbs
  • 175lbs
  • 205lbs

Females:

  • 50lbs
  • 75lbs
  • 100lbs

One (1) round; Choose one (1) weight class; Must extend arms fully and hear counted rep from Judge before proceeding to the next rep; Reps are multiplied by weight lifted divided by body weight.

Overall Rules:

  • “Touch and Go Style” – No Bouncing off the chest; No uneven extension of the bar
  • Feet must remain in contact on the floor
  • Butt must remain in contact with the bench; Shirt must be tucked in or tight fitting
  • Spotter is allowed to lift off at Judges command
  • Spotter can not touch bar until Judges command
  • Wrist wraps are allowed
  • No bench shirt or wrapped elbows allowed
  • Lifter must wait for Judges command to “Press” & “Rack”, Failure to wait is a missed attempt
