This is a blended learning class.  You will have approximately 2 weeks to complete the online portion of the class and then you will come into the Y to do skills and final written exam.

Upon successful completion of the class you will receive a one year American Health and Safety Institute (ASHI) certification.

Class is held in the Community Room or old spim room at 5:30 pm.

This class is free to staff members of the YMCA of Greater Spartanburg.

This certification course (American Red Cross) is designed to give participants the skills and knowledge needed to be lifeguards in the pool. The comprehensive course offers up-to-date information on how to guard, anticipate and prevent problems, and how to take action to help those in dangerous situations. It also covers safety and survival skills which every swimmer needs to know; accident prevention, scanning techniques, emergency systems, rescue skills and first aid in aquatic environments 3 participants are required environments. Full course is $200 for members and $300 for non-members. PARTICIPANTS MUST BE ABLE TO ATTEND ALL CLASS SESSIONS.  If unable to complete the class there is a $20 non-refundable testing fee. Deep water portions to be held at separate facility.

Requirements:

• Must present American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification
• Lifeguard Certification must be less than 30 days past expiration date
