Our Christian Values: Honesty, Respect, Responsibility, Caring and Love.
Our Guiding Principles:
John 17-21- that they all may be one.
Acts 17:26-God has made of one blood all peoples of the earth.

The YMCA of Greater Spartanburg is made up of a mosaic of people in Spartanburg County, SC and Polk County, NC. With this in mind, the YMCA of Greater Spartanburg will focus on what we have in common and not our differences. The YMCA of Greater Spartanburg recognizes we live in a divisive culture which is not a reflection of our mission statement; therefore, we will not participate in promoting controversial or divisive issues through public statements, our website or social media. We will stand by our mission statement, Christian values, and guiding principles which are the strength of the organization.

ALL people are welcome at the YMCA of Greater Spartanburg. We will not practice discrimination for any reason, including age, race, sexual orientation, gender, ethnicity, physical ability, religious beliefs or political affiliation. The YMCA of Greater Spartanburg’s position of service to humankind is to treat everyone according to its core values. Jesus taught us to love everyone where they are in their earthly journey. Everyone is welcome to join our Y community who agrees to abide by the YMCA rules of membership and policies. We believe FOR ALL means that everyone should have the opportunity to reach their God-given potential with dignity at the Y.

In 2021, our Association Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee examined our organization’s demographics by age, race and gender in four areas: our members, our board, our staff and our philanthropy. They did this important work to establish a baseline to inform the important work ahead. Our volunteer and staff leaders are committed to continuous improvement in this vitally important work.
