The YMCA of Greater Spartanburg proudly unleashes the 44th Annual Hair of the Dog 5K, 10K & 1-Mile Fun Run—the ultimate New Year’s Day tradition! Join the pack on January 1st at the Thomas E. Hannah Family YMCA, lace up with your furry co-pilot (leashed dogs welcome!), and sprint, jog, or stroll into the new year with unstoppable energy. Whether you’re chasing a PR or just chasing your tail, let’s start 2026 strong—together!

1 Mile Fun Run
Join us for the exciting 1-Mile Dash, perfect for kids and kids at heart, taking place on the scenic Mary Black Rail Trail that runs right by the Thomas E. Hannah Family YMCA. If you register by 12/05/25 you will receive a Hair of the Dog themed long-sleeved quarter-zip that celebrates the 44th annual run included with your registration, but all race registrations will include a delicious hot breakfast served after the event to refuel and celebrate!!
Gather in the gym of the Thomas E. Hannah Family YMCA by 8:45 AM on race day for check-in and bib pickup, with the run kicking off promptly at 9:00 AM on the flat, stroller-friendly Rail Trail.
This fun, family-oriented event welcomes runners of all ages—little ones, parents with strollers, grandparents, coaches, and YMCA friends alike!

5K (3.1 Miles)
The 3.1-mile course follows the 10K course and then turns back to the YMCA. Registration includes admission to our breakfast that will be in our gym, and if you register by 12/05/25 you will receive a Hair of the Dog themed long-sleeved quarter-zip that celebrates the 44th annual run included with your registration!!
Gather in the gym of the Thomas E. Hannah Family YMCA by 9:00 AM on race day for check-in and bib pickup, with the run kicking off promptly at 9:15 AM on Norwood Street (across from the YMCA front entrance).

The scenic 6.2-miler rolls through some of the most historic neighborhoods in Spartanburg and has been a tradition for over 43 years. Registration includes admission to our breakfast that will be in our gym and if you register by 12/05/25 you will receive a Hair of the Dog themed long-sleeved quarter-zip that celebrates the 44th annual run included with your registration!
Gather in the GYM at the Thomas E. Hannah Family YMCA at 8:30 am on race day. The 10K starts on Norwood Street (across from the YMCA front entrance at 9:00 am!!)
