Youth Volleyball
Volleyball will help your child learn sportsmanship, leadership, and teamwork. Here at the Y, we want your child to grow to become a strong leader with great character while also learning the sport and how enjoyable it can be. Your child will learn many life lessons and make many new friendships this season!
Players are split into three divisions: U9 (Ages 6–8) | U12 (Ages 9–11) | U15 (Ages 12–14).
Once teams have been selected and coaches assigned, practices will begin. At this point, rosters will not be changed.
BASIC INFORMATION:
- Co-ed league open to all abilities and skill levels
- Practices begin October 26, 2026 | Games begin November 7, 2026 | Season ends December 19, 2026
- Registration deadline: October 11, 2026
- Weeknight practices Monday–Thursday at 5:30, 6:30, or 7:30 PM — one practice per week per team
- Saturday matches begin at 9:00 AM with the youngest divisions, with games scheduled every hour — oldest divisions play after the youngest
VOLLEYBALL JERSEY:
Jerseys are available for purchase at the front desk for $17 (date to be announced).
Please make sure you select the size that best fits your child. Once jerseys are ordered, sizes cannot be changed. The parent/guardian will be responsible for repurchasing if a new size is needed.
CROSSPLAY BETWEEN BRANCHES:
In the event that registration numbers at any individual branch are not sufficient to field a full division, players may be combined with participants from another YMCA of Greater Spartanburg branch to ensure every child has the opportunity to play. This allows us to keep all divisions active and competitive regardless of enrollment at any single location. Families will be notified directly if crossplay between branches is necessary for their division.

COACHING OPPORTUNITIES:
We are looking for volunteer coaches for the Fall 2026 season! Volunteer coaches who coach through the season will have one player’s registration fee refunded at the end of the season. If you are interested, please reach out directly:

Refund Policy—Other than an outstanding event, our refund policy is that once a child has participated in practice or a game, no refunds will be awarded.

- Ball: Lightweight/youth volleyball
- Matches consist of best 2 out of 3 sets to 25 (third set to 15), with a 50-minute time limit
- Winner must win by two points; cap at 27 (sets 1 & 2) and 17 (set 3)
- Rally scoring — a point is scored on every serve
- One weeknight practice per week, Monday–Thursday at either 5:30, 6:30, or 7:30 PM
- Saturday games begin at 9:00 AM
