OUR MISSION
The mission of the YMCA of Greater Spartanburg is to put Christian principles into practice through programs that build a healthy spirit, mind and body FOR ALL.
FOR YOUTH DEVELOPMENT
Nine million youth are taking a greater interest in learning, making smarter life choices, and cultivating the values, skills and relationships that lead to positive behaviors, the pursuit of higher education and goal achievement.
FOR HEALTHY LIVING
Nationwide, millions of adults and youth receive the support, guidance and resources needed to achieve better health and well-being.
Being healthy is about maintaining a balanced spirit, mind, and body. At the Y you can work toward that balance by challenging yourself with new activities, fostering connections with neighbors, or joining family-centered activities.
FOR SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
Annual Campaign
While our programs and facilities are always based on the unique needs and interests of our communities, every Y has one thing in common: our people. The volunteers, staff, members and donors of the Y are all united by a deep commitment to strengthening our communities.
At the YMCA, no one is ever turned away due to the inability to pay.
We believe in helping ALL people improve their quality of life. Our Annual Campaign allows us to assist YMCA members and program participants with financial assistance toward memberships and program services during times when unforeseen circumstances make it difficult to afford our services.
The YMCA of Greater Spartanburg provides more than $1 million dollars annually in scholarships, subsidies and free services for the community. The dollars pledged to the Annual Campaign make an immediate and life-altering impact on those who benefit through summer camps, youth sports, quality childcare, swimming lessons, or even the chance to improve their wellness.
Togetherhood
Togetherhood is a member-led volunteer community service program. This program invites Y members to lead and participate in volunteer service projects that benefit the community where they live.Giving back and providing support to our neighbors.
The generosity of others is at the core of the Y’s existence as a nonprofit. It is only through the support of hundreds of volunteers and public and private donors that we are able to support and give back to our communities.
