Guarding at Middle Tyger YMCA

This certification course (American Red Cross) is designed to give participants the skills and knowledge needed to be lifeguards in the pool. The comprehensive course offers up-to-date information on how to guard, anticipate and prevent problems, and how to take action to help those in dangerous situations. It also covers safety and survival skills which every swimmer needs to know; accident prevention, scanning techniques, emergency systems, rescue skills and first aid in aquatic environments. Classes are scheduled each month as needed. 3 participants are required in order to hold the course. Full course is $200 for members and $300 for non-members. Re-cert class (if your certification is less than 30 days expired) is $75 for members and $125 for non-members. Certification must be provided to take the re-cert class. Hannah branch will be offered April 1-5 from 11 am to 4 pm.

Middle Tyger Lifeguard Schedule 2019

CPR/AED and First Aid classes for Adult, Child, and Infant are now being offered at the Thomas Hannah YMCA the 3rd Saturday of every other month from 8 am to 4 pm. Prices are $75 for members and $100 for non-members. Please call the Membership Services Desk at 864-585-0306 to register. The next class will be February 17th from 8 am to 4 pm.

Thomas E. Hannah Branch:

 Learn CPR/AED and First Aid from American Red Cross. We will do a training every other month.  We will begin again in 2020.

Slide hours at the Thomas E Hannah YMCA:.

  • Monday: 5:45  to 8:30 pm.  
  • Tuesday: Swim lessons – no slide or splash pad on
  • Wednesday: 5:30 to 8:30pm
  • Thursday:Swim lessons – no slide or splash pad on
  • Friday: 5:30 to 8:30 pm
  • Saturday: 12:00-6:30pm
  • Sunday: 1:00-5:30pm

Before Noon and during Group Swimming lessons many areas of the pool may not be open for the use of members due to programs such as Aquatic Physical Therapy, Fitness, or Swim Lessons.  The best time for Family Recreation (or Free Swim) are M-W-F 5:30 to 8:30 pm and Saturday and Sunday afternoons and evenings
