A New YMCA for Polk County

Building a stronger, healthier community, together

Located at Hwy 108 & Fox Mountain Road with access from Highway 74, the future Polk County YMCA will serve residents across the region with programs that support youth development, healthy living and community connection.

About the Project

The Polk County YMCA is a collaborative effort between Polk County and the YMCA of Greater Spartanburg, designed to create a welcoming space where people of all ages can learn, grow, and thrive.

While construction timelines have shifted, the project team is actively working to deliver a high-quality facility that reflects the needs and priorities of the community.

As part of this partnership, Polk County will retain ownership of the facility, with the YMCA serving as the operator responsible for delivering programs and services and managing day-to-day operations. The YMCA will operate the facility with a focus on providing safe, structured and accessible programs that serve the entire community.

Aquatics & Water Safety

Swim lessons, lap swimming, swim team and youth swim programs designed to promote safety and confidence in and around water

Recreation & Community

A gymnasium with pickleball courts and flexible community spaces designed for local gatherings and community programs.

Community Health Programs

Evidence-based programs including LIVESTRONG® and Parkinson’s support designed to improve strength, mobility and quality of life.

Health & Wellness

A modern fitness center, group exercise classes and personal training programs designed to support healthy lifestyles and overall well-being for all.

Indoor Walking & Activity Space

An indoor walking track designed to provide a comfortable space for movement, exercise and staying active.

Community Connection & Partnerships

Opportunities for partnership with local churches and community groups designed to support connection and shared use.

Community Gathering Space

A multi-purpose community room for local groups and meetings designed to bring people together and strengthen connections.

Family & Youth Spaces

Child watch services and an outdoor playground designed to support families and provide safe, engaging spaces for children.
