HEALTHY LIVING: Community Learning Series

Come join us for a learning event that can improve your quality of health. We will be hosting guest speakers to discuss various topics and provide our community with knowledge. These educational sessions will be offered once a month on topics ranging from CPR, nutrition, health awareness, and healthy living. Bring a lunch or a snack to enjoy while our guests provide insightful knowledge on various topics.

No charge for members / $5.00 for non-members

Back Pain Exercise Prescriptions – A Hands On Workshop
February 7th

*Are you nervous about starting an exercise program? Have you or are experiencing discomfort when you exercise? Exercise is medicine but make sure you are taking the right prescription. This interactive talk may provide some insight on some do’s and don’ts to consider while starting or revamping an exercise routine. Join Physical Therapist Jim Storch as he shares his knowledge on chronic lower back pain and how to help reduce the pain.

Clemson University’s Know Diabetes by Heart: Take Charge of Your Risks- An Informational Session  **Learn about their FREE 8 session series coming March 19th, too!

*Do you need help better managing your diabetes? Clemson University’s Health Extension for Diabetes is for people who have been diagnosed with either type 1 or type 2 diabetes. Group members meet for 1 hour every other week for 8 sessions to share successes, challenges, and learn about diabetes. During the program, group members also receive ongoing support and health education through weekly health coaching calls.
The program provides participants with:
• diabetes education;
• self management resources;
• support to better manage diabetes.

Cooking up Confidence Virtual Cooking Classes Informational Session
March 6th

*Come learn about Cooking Up Confidence which consists of four virtual cooking sessions where healthy, delicious meals are made from the comfort of your own home. Ruth’s Gleanings FoodShare boxes are used in order to help participants learn: basic cooking skills, Food Safety and storage tips, basic nutrition, and an introduction to the Blue Zones lifestyle for longevity.
