Parkinson's Community Classes at the Y!

Parkinson's Community Classes at the Y!

Exclusively at the THOMAS E. HANNAH FAMILY YMCA!

It is no secret that exercise has some exceptional benefits. A consistent exercise routine for people with Parkinson’s disease can help with longevity of mobility and improve quality of life. The PWR!Moves curriculum integrates PD-specific functional skill training into a multi-modal exercise program (flexibility, strength, balance, agility, and aerobics). The specificity of training begins by targeting four motor control skills shown to deteriorate and adversely affect everyday movement for people with PD.

This program has been built to align with the Parkinson’s Foundation exercise recommendations. These recommendations were created to ensure that people with Parkinson’s are receiving the safe and effective exercise programs and instruction they need to optimize the benefit.

A Medical Clearance is required. After your physician has given you clearance, a wellness screening and participant waiver is required before starting classes. Please contact Mary-Ladd Watts at [email protected] for details, participant forms, and to answer any questions you might have.

Members $25
Nonmembers $110
*As a member, we offer discounts on memberships and certain programing – PWR!Moves® qualifies as a scholarship program. Please inquire to our Front Desk about scholarships and financial aid if you are a member.
